Maggi Horton
We are excited to announce that Maggi Horton has been named the new High School Cross Country Coach at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School! She will continue to coach Middle School Cross Country.
Coach Horton has been an integral part of our Viking family since she began working at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School as an elementary school teacher in the fall of 2016. Her coaching journey began in 2017 as the Middle School Assistant Cross Country Coach, and just one year later, she stepped into the role of Head Coach. Her passion for running and her commitment to student-athletes have been evident from the very beginning. A seasoned runner herself, Coach Horton has completed two half marathons, participated in multiple relay teams for the Run Across Georgia race, and competed in the Columbus Day Relay.
Over the past eight years, she has grown our Middle School Cross Country program from just 14 runners to more than 40 across both boys’ and girls’ teams. Under her leadership, the team has achieved remarkable success, including a 3rd place trophy in 2019 and an impressive three-year streak of championship wins—affectionately known as winning “The Shoe”—in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Coach Horton’s dedication has not only transformed the Cross Country program but has also deeply impacted the lives of her student-athletes. Her enthusiasm, support, and encouragement have inspired countless runners to strive for personal bests, build confidence, and develop a love for the sport.
This new chapter is particularly meaningful, as she will now have the opportunity to coach her daughter, Vivvi, through her high school running career, continuing the journey they began together in middle school.
“Coaching Cross Country has been such a blessing,” said Coach Horton. “Watching these kids grow—from not loving to run to hitting new PRs—is a joy to experience with them. I’m excited for this new adventure and to unite our middle and high school programs into one strong team. I believe both groups have so much to offer one another, and together, we can achieve even greater things."
