Maggi Horton
Maggi Horton has coached our middle school Vikings Cross Country Team, which includes students in grades 5-8, since 2017. Her first team started with only five boys and 11 girls, but has grown into a program of a total of 35 runners. Over the past six years, our middle school cross country team has earned several placements, including bringing home “The Shoe” at the end of both the 2014 and 2022 seasons. During the 2022 season, our middle school girls' team also earned 1st place in GIAA's “End of the Season” race.
Coach Horton is a runner, herself, and has completed many 5Ks and a half marathon. She also has competed twice on a relay team in the Run Across Georgia Race during Memorial Day Weekend. “I love running, and sharing my passion about the sport with our middle school runners," says Coach Horton. "It's been fun to watch my teams grow and develop over the years; witnessing my runners break their personal record (PR) times is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching for me!”
