The spotlight was on the defending 2022 GIAA State Champions, the Lady Vikings, who made their mark felt right from the start. The crowd witnessed an awe-inspiring performance as Sophomore Georgy Helmers, the 2022 GIAA Individual State Champion, made her triumphant return to the racing circuit. With sheer determination and grit, Helmers clinched victory, crossing the finish line with a remarkable personal record time of 18:09. Notably, this extraordinary feat also etched her name into the annals of Pacelli's history as she secured a new school record.

What's more, Georgy Helmers currently holds the fastest 5k time in the entire state of Georgia across all classes, a testament to her exceptional prowess as a runner.

Adding to the Lady Vikings' accomplishments, Sophomore Adda Helmers displayed her tenacity by securing a commendable 6th place finish with a personal record time of 18:42. The team's camaraderie and spirit were further exemplified by Senior Paige Koller, who secured 39th place overall and set a personal record time of 20:32.

Not to be outdone, the boys' side showcased their mettle with Sophomore Kai Christie leading the pack. Clocking in with a personal record time of 19:28, Christie's performance demonstrated his dedication to improvement and his vital role in the team's future successes.

Despite the heat causing the cancellation of some races, the Pacelli cross country team showcased their adaptability and sportsmanship, making the most of the meet and gaining valuable experience for the journey ahead.
